{"id":26093,"date":"2016-08-19T15:01:44","date_gmt":"2016-08-19T22:01:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=26093"},"modified":"2016-08-19T15:01:44","modified_gmt":"2016-08-19T22:01:44","slug":"woman-sentenced-four-years-prison-conspiring-export-fighter-jet-engines","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=26093","title":{"rendered":"Woman Sentenced to Four Years in Prison for Conspiring to Export Fighter Jet Engines to China"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">FLORIDA<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">A federal judge on Friday sentenced a 45-year-old woman to four years and two months for conspiring to illegally export fighter jet engines and a drone to China, according to officials.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8558 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/courtroom_02.jpg\" alt=\"courtroom_02\" width=\"250\" height=\"190\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/courtroom_02.jpg 250w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/courtroom_02-45x35.jpg 45w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/>Officials said Wenxia Man, aka Wency Man, of San Diego, violated of the Arms Export Control Act.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">On June 9, a jury convicted Man of one count of conspiring to export and cause the export of defense articles without the required license.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">According to evidence presented at trial, between approximately March 2011 and June 2013, Man conspired with Xinsheng Zhang, who was located in China, to illegally acquire and export to China defense articles including: <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Pratt &amp; Whitney F135-PW-100 engines used in the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"> Pratt &amp; Whitney F119-PW-100 turbofan engines used in the F-22 Raptor fighter jet<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"> General Electric F110-GE-132 engines designed for the F-16 fighter jet<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The General Atomics MQ-9 Reaper\/Predator B Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, capable of firing Hellfire Missiles and technical data for each of these defense articles.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">During the course of the investigation, when talking to an undercover Homeland Security Investigations agent, Man referred to Zhang as a \u201ctechnology spy\u201d who worked on behalf of the Chinese military to copy items obtained from other countries and stated that he was particularly interested in stealth technology, according to officials.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A federal judge sentenced a 45-year-old woman to four years and two months for conspiring to illegally export fighter jet engines and a drone to China, according to officials.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":26094,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[16,3],"tags":[1805,1378],"class_list":["post-26093","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-home-main-slider","category-u-s-department-of-justice","tag-arms-export-control-act","tag-china"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.8 -
