Also carpet bomb Trump with facts that will make him look like a deer caught in the headlights.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">These must be bite-size facts so low information-voters can understand them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Facts to Trump are like crucifixes to vampires, in this case a bloodsucking parasite turned politician who has managed to convince millions of Deplorables that a con man with the scruples of a sewer rat and the intelligence of a slug would be a good choice to be the president of the greatest country on the planet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">I am going to skip Monday&#8217;s debate because I am too embarrassed to watch this racist buffoon and liar make a fool of himself, and consider it a sad and shameful era where America was dragged into the gutter by a mentally unstable man.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">I am going to go to the movies and watch the &#8220;Magnificent Seven.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">For the record, I have never voted for Hillary Clinton, and only voted for Obama when he ran for reelection. \u00a0But I will never vote for another politician who runs under the GOP banner with its racist and hateful agenda.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Period.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Latinos \u00a0on Cable News<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">A Media Matters<strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/mediamatters.org\/blog\/2016\/09\/21\/study-media-marginalized-latino-voices-discussing-trumps-attacks-judge-curiels-latino-heritage\/212865\">study <\/a><\/strong>found that Latinos made up only a small fraction of guests invited on cable news hows to discuss\u00a0Republican presidential nominee\u00a0Donald Trump\u2019s attacks on Judge Gonzalo Curiel\u2019s Mexican heritage.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"item-body\">\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">No surprise.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The media liberals will give Hispanics a lot of lip service, especially when it comes to immigration. But Hispanics are nearly<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-26774 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Sunday_show_ethnicity_-_blues-300x234.jpg\" alt=\"sunday_show_ethnicity_-_blues\" width=\"300\" height=\"234\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Sunday_show_ethnicity_-_blues-300x234.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Sunday_show_ethnicity_-_blues-768x598.jpg 768w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Sunday_show_ethnicity_-_blues-45x35.jpg 45w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Sunday_show_ethnicity_-_blues.jpg 984w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/> invisible on the cable news&#8217; discussions about the economy, jobs, education, defense or foreign policy. It is as though Hispanics are only concern about immigration and aren&#8217;t capable of contributing to the conversations surrounding other political, social or economic matters.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The article featured input from <em>Media Matters<\/em> Hispanic media researcher Cristina L\u00f3pez, who explained that this finding is representative of a larger tendency in the media to marginalize the Latino perspective in their reporting, which could have serious \u201cnegative effects\u201d and \u201cperpetuate damaging stereotypes\u201d about Latinos.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-26773 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Latino-Representation-300x207.png\" alt=\"latino-representation\" width=\"300\" height=\"207\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Latino-Representation-300x207.png 300w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Latino-Representation-768x531.png 768w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Latino-Representation-1024x708.png 1024w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Latino-Representation.png 2000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>The September 21 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.laopinion.com\/2016\/09\/21\/latinos-fueron-excluidos-de-dialogo-sobre-juez-curiel-y-otros-temas-que-les-afectan-dice-estudio\/\">report<\/a> focused on a <em>Media Matters<\/em> quantitative <a href=\"http:\/\/mediamatters.org\/blog\/2016\/09\/21\/study-media-marginalized-latino-voices-discussing-trumps-attacks-judge-curiels-latino-heritage\/212865\">study<\/a> of guest diversity on CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC that found that only 11.5 percent of guests discussing Trump\u2019s racist attacks against a Latino judge were Hispanic, while the majority of those discussing the topic &#8212; 88.5 percent &#8212; were non-Hispanic.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The Lynching of Brown People In America<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The contributions and achievements of Hispanics in the U.S. have also been for the most part marginalized for decades, and little has been written in American history books about he lynching of thousands of Mexicans by mobs from the mid-19th century and well into the 20th century.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The lynchings were second only to African-Americans in the scale and scope of the crimes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The New York Times reported about these lynchings last year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-26775 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/images-25.jpeg\" alt=\"images-25\" width=\"288\" height=\"175\" \/>One case, largely overlooked or ignored by American journalists but not by the Mexican government, was that of seven Mexican shepherds hanged by white vigilantes near Corpus Christi, Tex., in late November 1873, according to the NYT.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The mob was probably trying to intimidate the shepherds\u2019 employer into selling his land. None of the killers were arrested.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"story-body-text story-content\" data-para-count=\"308\" data-total-count=\"1374\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">From 1848 to 1928, mobs murdered thousands of Mexicans, though surviving records allowed us to clearly document only about 547 cases. These lynchings occurred not only in the southwestern states of Arizona, California, New Mexico and Texas, but also in states far from the border, like Nebraska and Wyoming.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"story-body-text story-content\" data-para-count=\"387\" data-total-count=\"1761\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-26776 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/lynching-3-300x190.png\" alt=\"lynching-3\" width=\"300\" height=\"190\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/lynching-3-300x190.png 300w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/lynching-3-768x486.png 768w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/lynching-3-120x76.png 120w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/lynching-3-265x168.png 265w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/lynching-3-284x180.png 284w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/lynching-3-274x173.png 274w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/lynching-3-220x140.png 220w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/lynching-3.png 819w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Some of these cases did appear in press accounts, when reporters depicted them as violent public spectacles, as they did with many lynchings of African-Americans in the South. For example, on July 5, 1851, a mob of 2,000 in Downieville, Calif., watched the extralegal hanging of a Mexican woman named Juana Loaiza, who had been accused of having murdered a white man named Frank Cannon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"story-continues-1\" class=\"story-body-text story-content\" data-para-count=\"515\" data-total-count=\"2276\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Such episodes were not isolated to the turbulent gold rush period. More than a half-century later, on Nov. 3, 1910, a mob snatched a 20-year-old Mexican laborer, Antonio Rodr\u00edguez, from a jail in Rock Springs, Tex. The authorities had arrested him on charges that he had killed a rancher\u2019s wife. Mob leaders bound him to a mesquite tree, doused him with kerosene and burned him alive.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"story-body-text story-content\" data-para-count=\"515\" data-total-count=\"2276\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The El Paso Herald reported that thousands turned out to witness the event; we found no evidence that anyone was ever arrested, according to the NYT report.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"story-body-text story-content\" data-para-count=\"237\" data-total-count=\"2513\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">While there were similarities between the lynchings of blacks and Mexicans, there were also clear differences. One was that local authorities and deputized citizens played particularly conspicuous roles in mob violence against Mexicans.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"story-body-text story-content\" data-para-count=\"237\" data-total-count=\"2513\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Part of the problem has been that so-called Hispanic civil rights groups like the League of United Latin American Citizens have been out to lunch, especially in cases involving the killing of Latinos by police. \u00a0Of the 795 people killed by police so far this year, 130 were Latinos, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/ng-interactive\/2015\/jun\/01\/the-counted-police-killings-us-database\"><strong>Guardian newspaper<\/strong>,<\/a> which keeps track of these deaths.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"story-body-text story-content\" data-para-count=\"237\" data-total-count=\"2513\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Click here to read the entire report: \u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2015\/02\/20\/opinion\/when-americans-lynched-mexicans.html?_r=0\">NYT<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"story-body-text story-content\" data-para-count=\"237\" data-total-count=\"2513\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Thousands of Mexican Texans Served in the Civil War<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"story-body-text story-content\" data-para-count=\"237\" data-total-count=\"2513\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Most people know that many Hispanics fought in many of America&#8217;s wars, including World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan. \u00a0But few know that thousands of Mexican-Texans fought in the Civil War.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><a class=\"fancybox image\" href=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/American-Civil-War.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-1414 disappear appear\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/American-Civil-War-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"American Civil War\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Secession and the Civil War deeply divided the Mexican Americans of Texas (Tejanos). Accusations of subversion and disloyalty before the war resulted in a reluctance by many of them to become involved in the conflict.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Those who joined militia units in South Texas and on the frontier frequently did so out of a fear of being sent out of the state and away from their families.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Some were able to avoid conscription by claiming to be residents of Mexico. Tejano frustrations during the Civil War are exemplified by the case of Capt. Adri\u00e1n J. Section 107.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">At least 2,500 Mexican Texans joined the Confederate Army.
