There was also the time he <em>literally<\/em>forced people out of their homes while he was running OneWest, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/news\/2016\/11\/steven-mnuchin-foreclosure-machine-treasury\">the lender he sold last year for a personal gain of several millions of dollars<\/a>. As Bloomberg <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/politics\/articles\/2016-11-22\/trump-treasury-contender-mnuchin-found-profits-in-mortgage-mess\">previously reported<\/a>, OneWest \u201ccarried out more than 36,000 foreclosures during Mnuchin\u2019s reign,\u201d earning the bank a reputation as a \u201cforeclosure machine.\u201d Here, some highlights of Mnuchin\u2019s company\u2019s work:<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\" data-reactid=\".11pdscu4u80.2.1.1.0.0.2.$2\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Changing the locks on <strong>Leslie Parks\u2019s<\/strong> Minneapolis house, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.startribune.com\/after-2-year-foreclosure-battle-she-owns-minneapolis-home\/128110078\/\">during a blizzard<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Allegedly refusing to negotiate with <strong>Greg Horoski<\/strong> and his wife, <strong>Diane Yano-Horoski,<\/strong> when the couple fell behind on payments due to Horoski getting sick; treating them, in the words of Judge <strong>Jeffrey Spinner<\/strong>, to \u201cmortifying abuse\u201d; and <a href=\"http:\/\/nypost.com\/2009\/11\/25\/judge-blasts-bad-bank-erases-525g-debt\/#ixzz0XtmoelKc\">generally acting in a manner<\/a> that was not only \u201cinequitable, unconscionable, vexatious and opprobrious\u201d but also \u201charsh, repugnant, shocking and repulsive.\u201d (OneWest commented at the time, \u201cWe respectfully disagree with the lower court\u2019s unprecedented ruling,\u201d which wiped out the $525,000 the couple owed in mortgage payments. It also claimed it had been \u201cextremely active in working with consumers on home loan modifications through the Obama administration\u2019s Home Affordable Modification Program and other loan modification initiatives.\u201d)<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Allegedly sending a homeowner\u2019s name to a debt collector who proceeded to \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/politics\/articles\/2016-11-22\/trump-treasury-contender-mnuchin-found-profits-in-mortgage-mess\">call her 81 times in a single day<\/a>.\u201d<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">And the pi\u00e8ce de r\u00e9sistance: reportedly foreclosing on a 90-year-old woman, <strong>Ossie Lofton<\/strong>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.politico.com\/story\/2016\/12\/trump-treasury-foreclosed-homes-mnuchin-232038\">who owed the bank 30 cents<\/a> but sent a check for 3 cents.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-reactid=\".11pdscu4u80.2.1.1.0.0.2.$3\">By comparison, Mnuchin\u2019s time at Goldman was akin to working as a volunteer in Ethiopia, feeding and bathing orphans, and walking multiple miles for clean water in his personal time. If only he\u2019d stuck to being a pawn of the \u201cglobal power structure,\u201d we might all be a little better off.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><script async
