{"id":29611,"date":"2017-02-24T11:15:28","date_gmt":"2017-02-24T19:15:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=29611"},"modified":"2017-02-24T11:18:08","modified_gmt":"2017-02-24T19:18:08","slug":"columbus-police-officer-charged-with-paying-for-sex-on-the-job","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=29611","title":{"rendered":"Columbus police officer charged with paying for sex on the job"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/player.ooyala.com\/static\/v4\/stable\/4.10.4\/skin-plugin\/iframe.html?ec=5taGl5OTE6gZlYjN9VTWuNP5Qe7-av1b&amp;pbid=ccdf4aa69cc94dccad30ecfba4e5415f&amp;pcode=1wcWUyOlvso8s-6Sv3px87bq9DPB\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<div class=\"timestamps\">\n<div class=\"has-changed\">PUBLISHED: <time class=\"timeago published\" title=\"02\/23\/17 02:40 pm EST\" datetime=\"2017-02-23T14:40:32-05:00\">02\/23\/17 02:40 PM EST<\/time>.<\/div>\n<div class=\"changed highlight-date\">UPDATED: <time class=\"timeago updated\" title=\"02\/23\/17 07:24 pm EST\" datetime=\"2017-02-23T19:24:01-05:00\">02\/23\/17 07:24 PM EST<\/time>.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"field field-name-field-dateline field-type-text field-label-hidden\">\n<div class=\"field-items\">\n<div class=\"field-item even\">COLUMBUS, Ohio<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden\">\n<div class=\"field-items\">\n<div class=\"field-item even\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-29613 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/WBNS-10-TV-.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"280\" height=\"208\" \/>As a Columbus Police Officer, 45 year-old Randall Mayhew swore to serve and protect.<\/p>\n<p>He&#8217;s now accused of breaking that oath by repeatedly engaging in a crime he&#8217;s arrested others for.<\/p>\n<p>Criminal complaints obtained by 10tv lay out the charges:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Three counts of solicitation- offering to pay for sex<\/li>\n<li>Three counts of prostitution- the act of engaging in sex for money<\/li>\n<li>One count of Dereliction of Duty<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Investigators say in November of 2015, Mayhew paid $40 for a sex act with a woman in a home on South Ogden Avenue.<\/p>\n<p>According to court records, the woman&#8217;s boyfriend backs up her claim.<\/p>\n<p>In September 2015, investigators say Mayhew picked up a woman in his cruiser, drove her to the 3400 block of Valleyview Drive, and paid her $60 for a sex act in his cruiser.<\/p>\n<p>Police said he did the same with another woman in his cruiser in the 1600 block of West Mound Street.<\/p>\n<p>In all three cases, they said Mayhew was on duty, and in all three cases, they said GPS data from his cruiser places him at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>The second case is also the basis for the Dereliction of Duty charge:<\/p>\n<p>Investigators said he ran a warrant check on the woman, and despite her having two open warrants, he failed to place her under arrest.<\/p>\n<p>If convicted, Mayhew faces three years and three months in prison.<\/p>\n<p>He was relieved of duty at the start of this investigation more than a year ago, and remains on desk duty.<\/p>\n<p>Columbus Police said once his criminal case is resolved, an administrative investigation will begin to determine whether he will keep his job.<\/p>\n<p>Mayhew declined comment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PUBLISHED: 02\/23\/17 02:40 PM EST.
