{"id":30014,"date":"2017-03-22T13:58:30","date_gmt":"2017-03-22T20:58:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=30014"},"modified":"2017-03-22T13:58:30","modified_gmt":"2017-03-22T20:58:30","slug":"brazilian-woman-booted-u-s-human-trafficking","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=30014","title":{"rendered":"Brazilian Woman Booted Out of U.S. for Human Trafficking"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>BALTIMORE, MD<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-14523 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Courtroom-300x160.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"160\" \/>A foreign national who was convicted and wanted by Brazilian authorities for international human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation was deported<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"> by federal agents, according to officials.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Stefania <\/span>Joaquina<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"> Campos Rezende, a 39-year-old citizen of Brazil, was arrested Feb. 14 by a Fugitive Operations Team assigned to ICE\u2019s Enforcement and Removal Operations or ERO office in Baltimore.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Since Oct. 1, 2009, ERO has removed more than 1,700 foreign fugitives from the United States who were sought in their native countries for serious crimes, including kidnapping, rape<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"> and murder.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">In fiscal year\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">2016, ICE conducted 240,255 removals nationwide, according to officials.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Ninety-two percent of individuals removed from the interior of the United States had previously been convicted of a criminal offense.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">She was identified as a fugitive alien after an immigration judge issued her a final order of removal in 2006. She arrived at Belo Horizonte International Airport in Brazil yesterday and was turned over to local authorities to serve the sentence in her human trafficking conviction, according to authorities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u201cICE is committed to targeting, arresting and removing international criminals who attempt to use the United States as a safe haven from prison sentences,\u201d said ERO Baltimore Field Office Director Dorothy Herrera-Niles. \u201cThe removal of a convicted human trafficker will keep our community safer, and allow exploited victims in Brazil to receive justice.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Campos Rezende had been detained at the Worcester County Jail, located in Snow Hill, <\/span>Maryland,<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"> since she entered ICE custody in February.
