The editorial in The Democrat-Reporter, the newspaper that has served the small western Alabama town of Linden since 1879, appeared on Page 2 last Thursday, but it read as though it could have been written the year the paper was founded, the New York Times story stated.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cTime for the Ku Klux Klan to ride again,\u201d it began.<\/span><\/p>\n

The unsigned opinion piece, railing against \u201cDemocrats in the Republican Party and Democrats\u201d and calling for the return of the most infamous white supremacist group in the nation\u2019s history, went largely unnoticed until Monday when two student journalists shared photographs of it online.<\/span><\/p>\n

By Tuesday, NYT reported it was national news, sparking outrage.<\/span><\/p>\n

Representative Terri A. Sewell, a Democrat whose congressional district includes Linden, called on the editor and publisher of the paper, Goodloe Sutton, to apologize and step down.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cFor the millions of people of color who have been terrorized by white supremacy, this kind of \u2018editorializing\u2019 about lynching is not a joke \u2014 it is a threat,\u201d she wrote on Twitter. \u201cThese comments are deeply offensive and inappropriate, especially in 2019.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The Alabama Press Association\u2019s Board of Directors has voted to censure Goodloe Sutton, the newspaper publisher who penned an editorial calling for the revival of the Ku Klux Klan, according to AL.com<\/span><\/p>\n

Does anybody really care about the opinion of Elmer Fudd or on the Hog Breeders’ Gazette?<\/span><\/p>\n

Elmer is simply putting down on paper what most whites in the south believe and say behind closed doors.<\/span><\/p>\n

Where is General William Sherman when you need him to make another ride into the deep and disturbing south?<\/span><\/p>\n

TRUMP’S MURKY MIND MAPPED OUT<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Excellent reporting by the New York Times published Tuesday titled:\u00a0 “<\/span>Intimidation, Pressure and\u00a0<\/span>Humiliation: Inside Trump\u2019s Two-Year War on the Investigations Encircling Him.”<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0This shines the light on Trump’s murky mind in his efforts to sabotage the Mueller investigation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sane America is seeing the dismantling of democracy by a mentally unstable con man and bully while the Republican Congress stands by and watches as the constitution and the rule of law crumble, and the nation’s institutions are discredited.<\/span><\/p>\n

What Trump fears the most is the avalanche of lawsuits, subpoenas and cooperating witnesses that will rain down and result in his criminal financial empire being taken down. He will be left penniless along with his family members. <\/span><\/p>\n

Some of the most serious tax and money laundering crimes will come from the New York attorney general’s office who can’t be influenced by Trump’s nefarious effort to sabotage the Mueller investigation. <\/span><\/p>\n

The NYT maps out devious, self-serving and desperate deeds by Trump to use Whitaker to put an end to the investigation. American democracy is going to “fall on a grenade” if the Congress continues to allow this lunatic in the White House to continue to do more devasting damage to our democracy.<\/span><\/p>\n

NEO-JIM CROW LAWS<\/h6>\n

NEW YORK TIMES EDITORIAL<\/a>:\u00a0 “North Carolina election officials are\u00a0detailing\u00a0how a longtime political operative, working for a Republican candidate, conspired to steal last year\u2019s election for the state\u2019s Ninth Congressional District.<\/span><\/p>\n

L. McCrae Dowless Jr.\u00a0dispatched minions to collect absentee ballots from voters,\u00a0fill them in, forge signatures and mail small batches from post offices near voters\u2019 homes to avoid suspicion. Mr. Dowless\u2019s effort is thought to have involved upward of 1,000 absentee ballots or request forms. The candidate he was serving, Mark Harris, has a 905-vote margin over the Democratic contender, Dan McCready.<\/span><\/p>\n

At a hearing Monday of the state\u2019s election board, its executive director shared the results of an investigation into how Mr. Dowless put together a \u201ccoordinated, unlawful and substantially resourced\u201d effort to tamper with absentee ballots,” the editorial stated in part.<\/span><\/p>\n

The editorial concludes:\u00a0 “Turns out, voting fraud is as real as Russia\u2019s crusade to put Mr. Trump in the White House. It just looks nothing like what Republicans keep hitting the panic button over. Which tells you even more about Mr. Trump and his party than it does about the so-called perils of voter fraud.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Republicans are masters at repackaging, neo-Jim Crow laws, putting a bow on them and gift wrapping and presenting them to the nation as “Voter Fraud” laws. <\/span><\/p>\n

Then, Trump and other Republican bigots will concoct lies and look for scapegoats to blame to justify passing this racist legislation, solely designed to keep minorities from voting. <\/span><\/p>\n

Trump lied and said as many as three million illegal migrants in California voted in the 2017 presidential election. <\/span><\/p>\n

What is unfortunate is that Jim Crow and all its racial trapping will be resuscitated in many ways by the ultra-conservative Supreme Court with a steady stream of 5-4 votes. <\/span><\/p>\n

This is a solid-conservative high court that was bought and paid for through Gerrymandering; Voter ID laws; strict voting registration requirements and excluding eligible voters and of course, the election of Trump with the help of the Russians.<\/span><\/p>\n
