{"id":4104,"date":"2014-06-23T13:25:59","date_gmt":"2014-06-23T20:25:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=4104"},"modified":"2014-06-23T13:25:59","modified_gmt":"2014-06-23T20:25:59","slug":"man-pleads-guilty-kidnapping-young-gay-man-brutally-beating","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=4104","title":{"rendered":"Man Pleads Guilty to Kidnapping a Young Gay Man and Brutally Beating Him"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_4108\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4108\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/man-pleads-guilty-kidnapping-young-gay-man-brutally-beating\/brice-johnson\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4108\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-4108 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Brice-Johnson-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Brice Johnson\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4108\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Brice Johnson &#8211; (Jail Booking Photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>FORT WORTH<\/strong>, <strong>TEXAS \u00a0&#8211;<\/strong>\u2013 A 19-year-old man who was charged with severely beating a gay man he had meet on the Internet pleaded guilty to kidnapping last week, federal officials said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Brice Johnson,<\/strong> 19, of Springtown, Texas, is facing up to life in prison and a $250,000 fine when he is sentenced in November, authorities said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was a senseless act of brutal violence that has no place in a civilized society,\u201d said Acting Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division Jocelyn Samuels.<\/p>\n<p>The case was investigated by the FBI.<\/p>\n<p>The victim, who is only identified as A.K. in the affidavit attached to the criminal complaint, was hospitalized for 10 days in Fort Worth where he was treated for multiple skull and facial fractures, \u00a0according to officials.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #5e6066;\">According to the affidavit filed with the criminal complaint, \u00a0officials allege that in the early morning hours of Sept. 2, 2013, the adult male victim, identified as A.K., connected with Johnson through the cell phone application for MeetMe.com.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #5e6066;\">A.K.\u2019s MeetMe.com page indicated he was a gay man, while Johnson\u2019s page indicated he was not gay.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #5e6066;\">During their communications, Johnson said that he was interested in engaging in sexual activity with A.K. He invited A.K. to his home, gave A.K. his cell phone number and address and they exchanged text messages planning their sexual activity, according to the affidavit.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #5e6066;\">After A.K. showed up at the house, Johnson severely beat him, then put him into the trunk of A.K.\u2019s car and drove him to a friend\u2019s home. Based on ligature marks on A.K.\u2019s wrists, it appears that he was bound with an electrical cord while he was in the trunk of the car.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #5e6066;\">Individuals at the home told Johnson to take A.K. to the hospital or they would call the police, and Johnson eventually drove the victim to an Emergency Medical Services station in Springtown, the affidavit states.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #5e6066;\">The investigation revealed that on the night of the incident, Johnson saved A.K.\u2019s cell phone number using a gay slur as a contact name and Johnson later stated that he was playing a prank on the victim because of his sexual orientation, again using a gay slur when referring to A.K.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #5e6066;\">According to the affidavit, A.K. said that he had no physical contact with Johnson prior to the attack.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FORT WORTH, TEXAS \u00a0&#8211;\u2013 A 19-year-old man who was charged with severely beating a gay man he had meet on the Internet pleaded guilty to kidnapping last week, federal officials said.
