{"id":42287,"date":"2021-03-11T16:27:52","date_gmt":"2021-03-12T00:27:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=42287"},"modified":"2021-03-11T16:52:47","modified_gmt":"2021-03-12T00:52:47","slug":"former-principal-charged-pocketing-money-while-working-at-two-schools","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=42287","title":{"rendered":"Former Principal Charged with Illegally Pocketing Money while Working at Two Schools"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>LOS ANGELES<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">A man has been charged with allegedly pocketing tens of thousands of dollars while he worked as a principal at two schools over the past four years, state prosecutors stated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">\u201cBetraying students, their parents and school administrators is the ultimate failure for those who are the face and voice of a school,\u201d Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gasc\u00f3n said.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_42288\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-42288\" style=\"width: 232px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/former-principal-charged-pocketing-money-while-working-at-two-schools\/download-3-22\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-42288\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-42288 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/download-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"232\" height=\"218\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-42288\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Kyle Douglas<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Kyle Douglas,50, was charged one count each of misappropriation of public funds, forgery, and grand theft.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"> He pleaded not guilty Thursday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">In 2017, while employed as the principal at Inglewood High School, the defendant is accused of negotiating a contract with a company for the private use of the school\u2019s parking lot, according to officials.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">He allegedly did not receive authorization and profited about $57,000 from the deal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Two years later, while working as a principal at Woodrow Wilson Middle School in Pasadena, Douglas is accused of collecting about $10,000 for a student trip to China and never paying the company that he hired to organize the trip, according to officials.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">According to the Los Angeles Times, &#8220;The Pasadena Unified School District said it could not comment specifically about the charges, but said in a statement: &#8216;As soon as the district learned about the allegations against Mr. Douglas, he was immediately placed on a leave of absence.
