Bernal sentenced Anthony Wimbley, 28, of Irvine, on Monday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4845035152MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">\u00a0Wimbley pleaded guilty in September 2020 to one count of Hobbs Act robbery and one count of using a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4845035152MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Wimbley\u2019s sentencing was announced Thursday after a federal jury in Fort Worth, Texas late Wednesday convicted another member of Wimbley\u2019s crew \u2013 Edward Eugene Robinson, 49, of Long Beach.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4845035152MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Robinson was convicted of conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery, two counts of interfering with commerce by robbery, and two counts of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4845035152MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Robinson also faces criminal charges in Wimbley\u2019s federal case in Riverside.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4845035152MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/philadelphia-woman-convicted-firebombing-killed-people\/criminal_justice_jurisprudence-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1073\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1073\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/criminal_justice_jurisprudence-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"299\" height=\"188\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/criminal_justice_jurisprudence-2.jpg 299w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/criminal_justice_jurisprudence-2-120x76.jpg 120w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/criminal_justice_jurisprudence-2-265x168.jpg 265w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/criminal_justice_jurisprudence-2-284x180.jpg 284w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/criminal_justice_jurisprudence-2-274x173.jpg 274w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 299px) 100vw, 299px\" \/><\/a>According to the evidence presented at trial, on May 21, 2019, Wimbley, brandishing a handgun and accompanied by three co-conspirators, robbed an AT&amp;T Wireless store in Fullerton, stealing $23,339 worth of electronic devices and cell phones. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4845035152MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">During the robbery, one of the conspirators pointed a gun at an employee\u2019s abdomen and forced her to go to the back of the store after she said she was scared, according to court documents. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4845035152MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Law enforcement later found the robbers in a parked car and found nearby the handgun and stolen goods.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4845035152MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A federal grand jury in October 2019 charged Wimbley, Robinson and four other men in an indictment that alleged a conspiracy to rob cellular phone stores in Chino, Fullerton, Long Beach, Victorville, and Beaumont. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/calif-senator-brother-indicted-bribery-involving-tens-thousands-dollars\/justice-depart\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1057\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-1057 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Justice-Depart-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Justice-Depart-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Justice-Depart-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Justice-Depart.jpg 320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4845035152MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The defendants targeted cell phones that did not contain tracking devices, and, in total, stole approximately $191,053 worth of cell phones and electronic devices, and approximately $2,434 in cash, according to the indictment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4845035152MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Three other defendants in this case \u2013 Wimbley\u2019s cousin, Robert Wimbley, 28, of Pomona; Wimbley\u2019s brother, Darron Wimbley, 29, of Fontana; and Djovonte Lewis, 23, of Pomona \u2013 each pleaded guilty in August 2020 to one count of Hobbs Act robbery and one count of using a firearm during a violent crime. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4845035152MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Darron Wimbley is serving a 100-month federal prison sentence for his crimes.
