County Detectives Indicted for Lying About a Search Warrant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"center\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><b>LOS ANGELES<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">\u00a0An indictment was unsealed Friday charging two sheriff\u2019s detectives for lying about their roles while a search warrant was served at a home in East Los Angeles three years ago, prosecutors stated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/pit-bull-owner-sentenced-15-years-life-animals-killed-woman\/district-attorney-los-angeles\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-6360\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-6360\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/District-Attorney-Los-Angeles.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"282\" height=\"261\" \/><\/a>\u201cTrust is one of the cornerstones of law enforcement,\u201d District Attorney George Gasc\u00f3n said. \u201cOur job is to help restore that trust when our community loses faith in the people who promise to uphold the law and protect us.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">A grand jury returned an indictment yesterday against Pedro Guerrero-Gonzalez, 33, for one felony count of filing a false report, and Noel Lopez, 33, for one count of perjury. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">On Sept. 22, 2018, both defendants were part of a team of sheriff\u2019s investigators who served a search warrant at a home in East Los Angeles. Drugs and weapons were discovered and two men were arrested and later charged in connection with the alleged crimes, according to the indictment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Guerrero-Gonzalez is accused of falsifying another detective\u2019s statement in a report. In a declaration, Lopez allegedly lied that deputies saw one of the men arrested throw a case containing a rifle onto the floor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">When prosecutors learned of the alleged crimes by the two detectives, they moved to dismiss the case.
