Fitzgerald sentenced Anthony Martinez, 40, of La Habra. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4703249702MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Martinez plead guilty on Jan.15 to one count of possession with intent to distribute cocaine. Martinez is one of eight defendants charged in an indictment alleging a conspiracy to traffic cocaine throughout Southern California.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4703249702MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 On July 25, 2019 in Whittier, Martinez received two boxes from a co-defendant that contained 75.2 pounds (34.1 kilograms) of cocaine, placed the boxes in his car and drove off. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4703249702MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/dominican-who-bit-off-finger-tip-of-ice-agent-sentenced-to-more-than-three-years-in-prison\/photo-by-tingey-injury-law-firm-9\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-42513\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-42513 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/l4ygusg0fxs-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"woman in gold dress holding sword figurine\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/l4ygusg0fxs-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/l4ygusg0fxs-683x1024.jpg 683w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/l4ygusg0fxs-768x1152.jpg 768w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/l4ygusg0fxs.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a>When Whittier Police officers attempted to pull Martinez over, he initially pulled over, then sped away, refusing to stop, and led police on a car chase in which Martinez veered into oncoming traffic and drove on the wrong side of the road, the plea agreement states.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4703249702MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cIn so doing, [Martinez] recklessly created a substantial risk of death or serious bodily injury to individuals in the community and law enforcement by fleeing from officers,\u201d prosecutors wrote in their sentencing memorandum.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4703249702MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">When police finally pulled Martinez over for good in Fullerton, they discovered the box of cocaine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4703249702MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Martinez also possessed 132.6 pounds (60.2 kilograms) of cocaine, separately wrapped in one kilogram \u201cbricks\u201d located in a storage locker, and 52.9 pounds (23.98 kilograms) of cocaine located inside a duffel bag.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4703249702MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In total, Martinez admitted to possessing 260.6 pounds (118.2 kilograms) of cocaine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4703249702MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 This case\u2019s lead defendant, Jesus Manuel Landeros-Cisneros, 51, of Covina, pleaded guilty in August 2020 to one count of conspiracy to distribute cocaine. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4703249702MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">He is serving a 14-year,\u00a0 six-month federal prison sentence for that offense.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4703249702MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Three other defendants in the case \u2013 Ryan Alexander Fischer, 23, a.k.a. \u201cFlaco,\u201d of Covina; Manuel Angel Landeros-Lopez, 43, of Covina; David Elgrably, 51, of Suisun City, California \u2013 are scheduled to go on trial on July 27. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4703249702MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Three defendants \u2013 Harnidhan Bhangu, 30; Harmanjot Singh, 29; and Gurpreet Chahal, 41; all Canadian nationals \u2013 are fugitives.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4703249702MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Drug Enforcement Administration and Homeland Security Investigations investigated this matter. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4703249702MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The investigation was conducted with the support of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF). As to these seizures, substantial assistance was provided by the South Gate Police Department, the Brea Police Department, and the West Covina Police
