{"id":42853,"date":"2021-05-28T13:05:19","date_gmt":"2021-05-28T20:05:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=42853"},"modified":"2021-05-28T13:07:47","modified_gmt":"2021-05-28T20:07:47","slug":"west-virginia-doctor-guilty-of-drug-dealing-cash-only-operation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=42853","title":{"rendered":"West Virginia Doctor Guilty of Drug Dealing, Cash-Only Operation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"node-title\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>WEST VIRGINIA<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"field field--name-field-pr-body field--type-text-long field--label-hidden\">\n<div class=\"field__items\">\n<div class=\"field__item even\">\n<p class=\"rtejustify\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">A federal jury convicted a West Virginia doctor Thursday for prescribing a buprenorphine product in violation of the Controlled Substances Act.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/doctor-and-18-others-indicted-for-distributing-prescription-drugs\/dea-image-3\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-15321\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-15321\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/DEA-IMAGE-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/DEA-IMAGE-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/DEA-IMAGE.jpg 540w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>According to court documents and evidence presented at trial, Sriramloo Kesari, M.D., 78, of Charleston distributed the drug Suboxone outside the scope of professional practice and not for a legitimate medical purpose. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Kesari, who was at times physically located in California, operated a cash-only operation whereby he would sign prescriptions that his employee would distribute in exchange for cash payments. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Although Suboxone is approved as a drug for treating opioid addiction, Kesari provided no meaningful addiction treatment and instead, prescribed Suboxone to an undercover DEA agent who was demonstrating clear signs that the Suboxone was being diverted or sold on the street.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Kesari is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 25.
