Opinion | No, Judge Benitez, we do not need weapons of war for \u2018home defense\u2019<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
A FEDERAL judge\u2019s decision\u00a0overturning California\u2019s longtime ban on assault weapons\u00a0<\/a>has been rightly mocked for its ludicrous likening of an AR-15 rifle to a Swiss Army knife. But the ruling is no laughing matter. While it will be appealed \u2014 and hopefully overturned by jurists who understand the Second Amendment is not without limits \u2014 the ruling is part of a sustained attack on gun safety laws that has been emboldened by the shift in balance of the U.S.\u00a0Supreme Court.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The better question is, how many of these morons who make these kinds of crazy comparisons of assault rifles with “Swiss Army knives” are wearing black robes?<\/span><\/div>\n
I would venture to say, too many.<\/span><\/div>\n
Exhibit A, for example, Benitez, proves one thing that with the right amount of legalese and razzle-dazzle word scramble from a fool up on a bench wearing a black robe, anybody can put a square peg in a round hole.<\/span><\/div>\n

Benitez’s 94-page ruling is a right-wing gem, and his thought process will be revered and repeated at Fox “News” and by Trump’s Commandos.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Hiz Honor’s papered, judicial insight could be compared to something a six-year-old would bring home from Kindergarten and immediately goes up on the refrigerator door \u2014 “Wow, who is that? Mommy and Daddy? Yeah, and there is our dog too and our house. Woow.”<\/span><\/div>\n
What’s the saying here: “I’d rather be thought of as a fool than to put it in 94-page ruling and remove all doubt” or something like that.<\/span><\/div>\n
It is just a matter of time before someone goes into this clown’s court with the argument that he needs a grenade launcher for “home defense” or to bring down deer in the woods.<\/span><\/div>\n
What handy multi-tool will Benitez use to compare a grenade launcher with? I am guessing a can opener.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

With the anniversary of the\u00a0Tiananmen Square massacre<\/a>, lots of people are mourning the loss of lives and basic democratic freedoms amid the ongoing Chinese government\u00a0repression<\/a>\u00a0of this history. Meanwhile, Donald Trump apparently believes that he is going to be reinstated to the presidency come August; people are laughing at this risible notion, but it is also a bit scary, and people are worrying, too. At least he can\u2019t encourage more mayhem by posting on Facebook until\u00a0at least 2023<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n
