Dalton, Jr. sentenced John Robert Cooney, 54, to 12 years in federal prison for receiving images of children being sexually abused using an online social media application, officials stated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/feds-tennessee-school-district-agrees-fix-end-discriminatory-practices\/department-of-justice-loo\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-9242\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9242 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Department-of-Justice-Loo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"297\" height=\"168\" \/><\/a>The court also ordered Cooney, of Orlando, to register as a sex offender and forfeit the electronic devices that he used to commit this offense, according to authorities.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Cooney pleaded guilty on March 15.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">According to court documents, on July 7, 2020, Cooney, a former attorney and therapist, received images depicting children as young as 1-2 years old being subjected to sadistic sexual abuse using a popular online messaging app.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_43497\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-43497\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-43497 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/John-Robert-Cooney-300x228.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"228\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/John-Robert-Cooney-300x228.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/John-Robert-Cooney.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-43497\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">John Robert Cooney, 54<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">On August 21, 2020, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at Cooney\u2019s home and seized several computers and electronic devices. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">A forensic review of Cooney\u2019s devices revealed more than 1,800 images and 2,400 videos depicting the sexual abuse of young children. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">In addition to receiving these images, Cooney was also trading and exchanging online cloud storage links to collections of child sexual abuse materials with other users on this mobile app.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">This case was investigated by the FBI and the Orange County Sheriff\u2019s Office.
