A federal criminal complaint filed today charges Coleman with foreign murder of United States nationals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Coleman is expected to make his initial court appearance this afternoon in federal court in downtown Los Angeles, officials stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Coleman told FBI agents he killed his children by shooting a spear into their chests, explaining that he had been \u201cenlightened by QAnon and Illuminati conspiracy theories\u201d and \u201cbelieved he was saving the world from monsters,\u201d according to an affidavit in support of the complaint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The affidavit outlines the investigation that started on Saturday when Coleman\u2019s wife contacted the Santa Barbara Police to report that her husband had left the couple\u2019s residence in a Sprinter van and she did not know where they had gone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Santa Barbara man told investigators he killed his children because they were growing into monsters\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/U6X_PVqowKo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The next day, Coleman\u2019s wife filed a missing-persons report. Using a computer application, Coleman\u2019s wife was able to determine that Coleman\u2019s phone had been in Rosarito on Sunday afternoon, the affidavit states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The same phone-locating service was used on Monday and showed that Coleman\u2019s phone was near the San Ysidro Port of Entry at the U.S.-Mexico border, according to the affidavit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The FBI dispatched colleagues in San Diego to contact Coleman, who entered the United States in the Sprinter van without the children. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">When the children were not found, FBI agents contacted law enforcement officials in Rosarito and learned that Mexican authorities that morning had recovered the bodies of two children matching the description of Coleman\u2019s children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
