\"IRS\"<\/a>A hospital worker who stole patients’ personal identification information to filed false tax returns plead guilty Tuesday to one count of aggravated identity theft, according to authorities.<\/p>\n

Kamarian D. Millender, of Dothan, Alabama, worked as a lab technician at a medical facility in Dothan, officials said.<\/p>\n

He and others stole patient medical records, which contained personal IDs. Millender used this information to file false tax returns from the Internal Revenue Service. Millender managed to file more than 100 false federal tax returns, which victimized about 73 individuals and sought to defraud the IRS of about $536,028.<\/p>\n

The IRS was able to stop the scam but not before the agency sent Millender and the others $18,915 \u00a0in refunds, officials said.<\/p>\n

As a result of his plea, Millender will be sentenced to two years in prison and a fine of $250,000, authorities said.<\/p>\n
