{"id":48365,"date":"2021-10-27T20:57:17","date_gmt":"2021-10-28T03:57:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=48365"},"modified":"2021-10-27T20:57:17","modified_gmt":"2021-10-28T03:57:17","slug":"school-safety-officer-charged-with-murdering-an-unarmed-18-year-old","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=48365","title":{"rendered":"School Safety Officer Charged with Murdering an Unarmed 18-Year-Old"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>LOS ANGELES<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">A Long Beach Unified School safety officer was charged today with murder in the shooting death of an unarmed 18-year-old, according to state prosecutors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">\u201cWe must hold accountable the people we have placed in positions of trust to protect us,\u201d District Attorney George Gasc\u00f3n said. \u201cThat is especially true for the armed personnel we traditionally have relied upon to guard our children on their way to and from and at school.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Eddie Gonzalez, 51, was charged with one count of murder.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/oQFtuMschfA\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">On September 27, Gonzalez was patrolling an area near Millikan High School in Long Beach when he noticed an altercation between 18-year-old Manuela Rodriguez and a teenage girl.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Rodriguez got into the rear passenger seat of a nearby car. Gonzalez allegedly fired his handgun at the vehicle, striking Rodriguez.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">She was taken to a hospital where she died approximately a week later.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The case remains under investigation by the Long Beach Police
