\"U.S.<\/a>WASHINGTON D.C.<\/strong> — A former office manager in the U.S. House of Representatives plead guilty Friday for illegally billing the federal government for unauthorized travel expenses, authorities said.<\/p>\n

Brian Prokes<\/strong>, 28, a former office manager in the U.S. House of Representatives, pleaded guilty submitting unauthorized paperwork of more than $19,000 in excess salary and unauthorized travel expenses, officials said.<\/p>\n

According to court documents, Prokes’ job included sending salary and bonus information to the House of Representatives\u2019 Office of Payroll and Benefits. \u00a0Between April 2012 and March 2013, Prokes sent unauthorized paperwork to Payroll and Benefits to pay himself a larger salary and bonus than he had been approved to receive, officials said.<\/p>\n

In addition, authorities said Prokes admitted that, between February 2012 and December 2012, he charged unauthorized, personal travel expenses for himself and an acquaintance to a government credit card used by the Congressman\u2019s office.<\/p>\n

Prokes, of Atlanta, Georgia, is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 14.<\/p>\n
