{"id":49834,"date":"2022-05-18T19:19:05","date_gmt":"2022-05-19T02:19:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=49834"},"modified":"2022-05-18T19:24:05","modified_gmt":"2022-05-19T02:24:05","slug":"man-charged-with-hate-crimes-for-using-weapon-to-fire-at-convenient-stores","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=49834","title":{"rendered":"Man Charged with Hate Crimes for Allegedly Using Weapon to Fire at Convenient Stores"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"node-title\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Larry Edward Foxworth, 48, was indicted this week by a federal grand jury in Atlanta, Georgia, for hate crime and federal firearms violations, officials stated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OsDMwXT4u_M\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<div class=\"field field--name-field-pr-body field--type-text-long field--label-hidden\">\n<div class=\"field__items\">\n<div class=\"field__item even\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">This indictment charges Foxworth with two counts of willfully attempting, through the use of a firearm, to cause bodily injury to customers, employees and other people present at convenience stores in Jonesboro, Georgia, because of their actual and perceived race, color and national origin. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Foxworth is also charged with two counts of using a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">If convicted of the crimes, Foxworth faces up to life in prison.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">\u201cHate-fueled violence has no place in a civilized society,\u201d said Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke of the Justice Department\u2019s Civil Rights Division.\u00a0\u201cThankfully no one was injured by the conduct alleged in this case, but the Justice Department is committed to using all the tools in our law enforcement arsenal to prosecute allegations of hate crimes.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">\u201cNo person should be afraid to shop or go to work in our community. Nor should people have to worry that they may be violently attacked because of the color of their skin,\u201d said U.S. Attorney Ryan K. Buchanan for the Northern District of Georgia. \u201cCombating hate crimes continues to be among the Department of Justice\u2019s top priorities.
