When this happens, it erodes trust in the community and can impact our collective safety,\u201d District Attorney Georger Gasc\u00f3n said. \u201cMy office will continue to hold officers accountable when they break the law.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">Hernandez entered his plea to one felony count of assault under color of authority.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\"> He was immediately sentenced to probation for two years, 80 hours of community service, and one year of anger management classes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">On April 27, 2020, Hernandez and his partner responded to a call of a trespasser in a vacant lot in Boyle Heights. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">During a confrontation between police and the victim, Hernandez illegally punched the unarmed man more than a dozen times in the head, neck, and body.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/dhhAnIBsyRc\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span but\u00a0<i>three<\/i> shootings on the job, according to the Los Angeles Times.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">The\u00a0<i>Los Angeles Times<\/i>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/california\/story\/2020-05-06\/lapd-officer-involved-in-violent-beating-video-has-been-involved-in-three-prior-fatal-shootings\">reports<\/a>\u00a0that the first
