men who were allegedly involved in the daylight smash-and-grab robbery of a Beverly Hills jewelry store, according to officials.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1459395590MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">The theft resulted in more than $2.6 million worth of merchandise being stolen, according to officials.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1459395590MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The two-count indictment charges Long Beach residents Jimmy Lee Vernon III, 31, Ladell Tharpe, 37, and Deshon Bell, 20, with conspiracy and interference with commerce by robbery (Hobbs Act).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"yiv1459395590MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">According to the indictment, on March 23, the defendants and other co-<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">conspirators drove in tandem in three vehicles headed from Long Beach to Beverly Hills. <\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_255\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-255\" style=\"width: style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">Once outside the victim jewelry store, Vernon and other co-conspirators allegedly got out of a Kia vehicle, smashed the store\u2019s exterior glass cases multiple times, and stole merchandise worth at least $2,674,000.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1459395590MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Vernon and the others then ran out of the store to a nearby alley, leaving behind their Kia vehicle \u2013 which had been reported stolen out of Long Beach four days before the robbery, according to an affidavit filed with a criminal complaint in this case. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1459395590MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">During the robbery, Vernon\u2019s cell phone fell out of his sweatpants pocket while he smashed the jewelry store\u2019s window, was left behind, and later recovered by law enforcement, the affidavit states.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1459395590MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-51023 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/download-14.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"190\" height=\"265\" \/>Bell allegedly waited in a car near the victim&#8217;s jewelry store and served as the getaway driver for Vernon and the other co-conspirators.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1459395590MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The defendants allegedly stole property consisting of about 19 bracelets, seven pairs of earrings, four necklaces, a pair of obelisks, eight rings, and 20 watches.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1459395590MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 On March 25, Tharpe posted on his Instagram account numerous photographs that included large stacks of money and a message praising his \u201crobbery gang,\u201d according to the indictment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1459395590MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">Law enforcement arrested the defendants last month. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1459395590MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">Vernon is in federal <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">custody, was ordered jailed without bond, and his arraignment is scheduled for October 13 in United States District Court. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1459395590MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">Tharpe is in state custody and are expected to be remanded to federal custody in the coming weeks. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1459395590MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">Bell was released on $15,000 bond and his arraignment in federal court is scheduled for Oct. 20.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1459395590MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\"> A juvenile, not charged in the federal indictment, was also arrested in connection with the robbery and is charged in Los Angeles Superior Court with commercial burglary.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">The defendants are
