\"\"\u00a0Los Angeles Police Detective Luke Walden was charged with attempting to obtain a gun silencer that he allegedly purchased from China, according to officials.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAny device that is intended to silence or muffle a firearm is illegal,\u201d District Attorney George Gasc\u00f3n said. \u201cThis case is especially troubling given that the accused is a senior law enforcement officer. Anyone who tries to circumvent our laws by trying to purchase such items overseas will be held accountable for their actions, no matter their profession.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Walden, 48, was charged with one felony count of attempted silencer possession.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On or about April 22, 2021, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol intercepted a package from China that contained an illegal firearm silencer. The address on the package matched one belonging to Walden, officials stated.<\/span><\/p>\n

Walden was arrested last week. He posted bail.<\/span><\/p>\n
