We are committed to holding anyone accountable when they attempt to take advantage of the public\u2019s trust,\u201d District Attorney George Gasc\u00f3n said. \u201cEliminating public corruption continues to be a priority for our office.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">\u201cThe California Department of Justice&#8217;s work is built on the highest standards of ethics and integrity \u2014 and the alleged actions of these two defendants violates these standards. Breaking the law to line your own pockets, especially while in a position of power, is unacceptable,\u201d said Attorney General Rob Bonta.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1073 alignright\" https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/criminal_justice_jurisprudence-2-274x173.jpg 274w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 299px) 100vw, 299px\" \/>Eric Bunde, 55, and James Biscailuz, 54, were charged with one felony count each of grand theft by embezzlement and grand theft by an employee. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">Bunde faces one felony count of conflict of interest, while Biscailuz faces one felony count of perjury.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">Between January 2014 and November 2017, Bunde oversaw the Los Angeles Regional Criminal Information Clearinghouse, also known as LA Clear, an organization that assists law enforcement agencies with criminal investigations and is managed by law enforcement executives.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">LA Clear, at Bunde\u2019s direction, contracted with Biscailuz\u2019s company for social media services that were eventually subcontracted to a consulting firm owned by Bunde, resulting in a loss of $12,500, according to authorites.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">Biscailuz also is accused of filing a disclosure form that omitted the company he owned.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">The case remains under investigation by the California Department of
