Sanchez was also allegedly skimming money from the Sure\u00f1os \u200dPrison Gang, McEvoy said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">According to federal and state authorities, Sure\u00f1os \u200d, Southern United Raza, Sur 13 or Sure\u00f1os X3 are groups of loosely affiliated gangs that pay tribute to the Mexican Mafia while in U.S. state and federal correctional facilities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4982559762MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">Federal officials stated that Sanchez was repeatedly hit and kicked, dying because of blunt force trauma to the head.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4982559762MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The defendants who were found guilty late Wednesday are:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"yiv4982559762MsoListParagraphCxSpFirst\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">Aurelio Patino, a.k.a. \u201cAugie,\u201d 39, most recently of Riverside, who at the time of the murder was serving a 16-month sentence for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and previously was serving an eight-year sentence in a California state prison;<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"yiv4982559762MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">Christopher Ruiz, a.k.a. 48, most recently of San Diego, is serving a 10-year sentence after being convicted of racketeering and methamphetamine-related charges.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"yiv4982559762MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">Jose Villegas, a.k.a. \u201cTorch,\u201d 41, most recently of Los Angeles, who is serving a 15-year sentence in a methamphetamine case.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"yiv4982559762MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-30520 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Jackson-Jail-Missouri-300x165.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"165\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Jackson-Jail-Missouri-300x165.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Jackson-Jail-Missouri.jpg 730w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>According to evidence presented at their six-day trial, Sanchez was escorted <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">to the recreation yard inside the prison, where he was attacked. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4982559762MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">Patino, Ruiz, and Villegas used their hands and feet to strike Sanchez.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">Officials\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sbsun.com\/2014\/06\/22\/two-inmates-apparently-slain-at-federal-prison-in-victorville\/\">previously said<\/a> an inmate named Javier Sanchez was found beaten to death at the same prison on Oct. 1, 2013.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4982559762MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">In addition to the murder charge, all three defendants pleaded guilty in November 2022 to conspiracy to commit the second-degree murder of Sanchez.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4982559762MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 U.S. District Judge Cormac J. Carney scheduled a June 12 sentencing hearing.
