{"id":51979,"date":"2023-01-24T21:45:10","date_gmt":"2023-01-25T05:45:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=51979"},"modified":"2023-01-24T21:46:27","modified_gmt":"2023-01-25T05:46:27","slug":"two-former-arkansas-sheriffs-deputies-charged-with-allegedly-beating-a-suspect","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=51979","title":{"rendered":"Two Former Arkansas Sheriff&#8217;s Deputies Charged with Beating a Suspect at a Gas Station"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\"><strong>ARKANSAS<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"node-title\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">The Justice Department announced Tuesday that a federal grand jury returned an indictment charging former Crawford County, Arkansas, Sheriff\u2019s Deputies Levi White and Zackary King with federal civil rights offenses for using excessive force, according to authorities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">White and King beat a 27-year-old man during the arrest of that man at a gas station in Mulberry, Arkansas, on Aug. 21, officials stated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/7GFLbZm9fMg\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<div class=\"field field--name-field-pr-body field--type-text-long field--label-hidden\">\n<div class=\"field__items\">\n<div class=\"field__item even\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">Specifically, count one of the indictment alleges that, while the arrestee was lying on the ground, White struck him multiple times. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">Count two of the indictment alleges that King struck the arrestee multiple times, also while the arrestee was lying on the ground. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">The indictment further alleges that the arrestee suffered bodily injury due to White and King\u2019s actions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/xSzZ5WRDVTw\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">If convicted, White and King face up to 10 years in prison for the excessive-force charge. The defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">The FBI Little Rock Field Office investigated the case.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">Assistant U.S. Attorneys Dustin Roberts and Devon Still for the Western District of Arkansas and Trial Attorneys Anna Gotfryd and Michael J.
