of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, pleaded guilty Tuesday to assault and three other charges, officials stated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv0873406267MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">His actions and the actions of others disrupted a joint session of the U.S. Congress convened to ascertain and count the electoral votes related to the 2020 presidential election.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv0873406267MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">Daniel Rodriguez, 40, of Fontana, California, pleaded guilty to conspiracy, obstruction of an official proceeding, obstruction of justice, and assaulting a law enforcement officer with a deadly or dangerous weapon. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv0873406267MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">Rodriguez admitted to assaulting MPD Officer Michael Fanone with a taser during the breach of the U.S. Capitol. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv0873406267MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">U.S. District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson scheduled a sentencing hearing for May 16, 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Wgjb5G5g_Sc\" width=\"560\" court documents, Rodriguez and others created a Telegram group chat, called the \u201cPatriots 45 MAGA Gang.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv0873406267MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-51948 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/images-8.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"299\" height=\"168\" \/>I<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">n the Fall of 2020, they used it as a platform to advocate violence against certain groups and people that either supported the 2020 Presidential election results, supported what the group perceived as liberal or communist ideologies, or held positions of authority in government. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv0873406267MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">The group\u2019s activities included collecting weapons and tactical gear to bring to Washington, D.C. on Jan. 6, storming past barricades to gain unlawful access to the Capitol, and coordinating activities before, during, and after the riot. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv0873406267MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-52124 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/thumbnail-1-300x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" hinder Congress\u2019s Certification of the Electoral College Vote and prevent evidence from being used in the investigation of his and his co-conspirators\u2019 activities.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv0873406267MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">Rodriguez was arrested on March 31, 2021, by the FBI\u2019s Los Angeles Field Office.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv0873406267MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">This case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office for the District of Columbia and the Counterterrorism Section of the U.S. Department of Justice\u2019s National Security Division, with assistance from the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office for the Central District style=\"font-size: 24px;\">In the 25 months since Jan. 6, 2021, more than 985 individuals have been arrested in nearly all 50 states for crimes related to the breach of the U.S. Capitol.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv0873406267MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">This includes about 319 individuals charged with assaulting or impeding law
