No woman should be detained in the middle of the night and punched in the face because an officer lost his temper,\u201d District Attorney George<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4589 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/California-Highway-Patrol-Patch-243x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"243\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/California-Highway-Patrol-Patch-243x300.jpg 243w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/California-Highway-Patrol-Patch.jpg 360w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 243px) 100vw, 243px\" \/> Gasc\u00f3n said. \u201cExcessive force by law enforcement officers will not be tolerated in Los Angeles County.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Cookston, 54, was charged with one felony count of assault under the color of authority. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The case was filed for warrant on February 21.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">On March 2, 2022, Cookston pulled over a woman on Interstate 5 near Santa Clarita. After the woman exited her vehicle, an altercation occurred, and Cookston allegedly punched her in the face.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size:
