{"id":52494,"date":"2023-03-14T17:11:19","date_gmt":"2023-03-15T00:11:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=52494"},"modified":"2023-03-14T17:11:19","modified_gmt":"2023-03-15T00:11:19","slug":"el-paso-border-patrol-agent-indicted-for-allegedly-using-excessive-force","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=52494","title":{"rendered":"El Paso Border Patrol Agent Indicted for Allegedly Using Excessive Force"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"node-title\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><span style=\"font-family: sf-arial;\">A federal grand jury in El Paso, Texas returned a three-count <\/span><a class=\"doj-analytics-processed\" style=\"font-family: sf-arial;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/press-release\/file\/1573946\/download\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">indictment<\/a><span style=\"font-family: sf-arial;\"> that was unsealed Monday, charging a U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer with using excessive force, officials stated.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Miguel Delgado Jr. was indicted for\u00a0<span style=\"font-family: sf-arial;\">deprivation of rights under color of law and falsifying a document in a federal investigation, according to authorities. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><span style=\"font-family: sf-arial;\">Delgado is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/99NZvWRF2Ho\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"field field--name-field-pr-body field--type-text-long field--label-hidden\">\n<div class=\"field__items\">\n<div class=\"field__item even\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">According to the indictment, Miguel Delgado Jr. used excessive force in two incidents on or about June 15, 2020, and Oct. 20, 2019, while he was on duty at the Bridge of Americas Port of Entry in El Paso, Texas. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">As alleged in the indictment, both victims suffered bodily injury due to Delgado\u2019s unlawful use of force. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The indictment also charges Delgado with including false statements in a report about one of the incidents.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">If convicted, Delgado faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison for each of the use of force incidents and a maximum of 20 years in prison for submitting a false report about one of the incidents.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Assistant U.S. Attorneys Patricia Aguayo for the Western District of Texas and Trial Attorney Olimpia Michel of the Civil Rights Division\u2019s Criminal Section are prosecuting the case.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A federal grand jury in El Paso, Texas returned a three-count indictment that was unsealed Monday, charging a U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer with using excessive force, officials stated.
