{"id":52575,"date":"2023-03-23T18:11:30","date_gmt":"2023-03-24T01:11:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=52575"},"modified":"2023-03-23T19:22:31","modified_gmt":"2023-03-24T02:22:31","slug":"man-guilty-of-threatening-black-family-for-moving-into-a-neighborhood","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=52575","title":{"rendered":"Man Guilty of Threatening Black Family for Moving into a Neighborhood"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"node-title\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-52577 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/th-23-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/th-23-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/th-23.jpg 474w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>A Wisconsin man pleaded guilty to one felony count and one misdemeanor count of intimidating and interfering with Black residents because of their race and because they were exercising their right to fair housing, officials stated.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"field field--name-field-pr-body field--type-text-long field--label-hidden\">\n<div class=\"field__items\">\n<div class=\"field__item even\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">According to court documents, William McDonald, 45, of West Allis, Wisconsin, admitted that in March 2021, he vandalized a Black woman\u2019s vehicle parked outside her apartment by slashing her tires and smashing her windshield.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JykfvgYGvKw\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<div class=\"field__items\">\n<div class=\"field__item even\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-7857 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/FBI-Logo-289x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"289\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/FBI-Logo-289x300.png 289w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/FBI-Logo.png 636w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 289px) 100vw, 289px\" \/>McDonald then left a note on her car, filled with racial slurs, threatening to slash her throat and demanding she moves out of West Allis. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">A week later, McDonald slashed two of her car tires and left another note filled with racial slurs and giving her an ultimatum \u2013 move out of the neighborhood or suffer violence. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">In April 2022, a Black woman and her two minor children moved into McDonald\u2019s apartment complex. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Shortly after they moved in, McDonald vandalized her front door with racial graffiti and left her a note, calling her family a racial slur and demanding she get out of the building.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-51967 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/wesley-tingey-9z9fxr_7z-k-unsplash-214x300.jpeg\" alt=\"brown mallet on gray wooden surface\" width=\"214\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/wesley-tingey-9z9fxr_7z-k-unsplash-214x300.jpeg 214w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/wesley-tingey-9z9fxr_7z-k-unsplash-731x1024.jpeg 731w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/wesley-tingey-9z9fxr_7z-k-unsplash-768x1075.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/wesley-tingey-9z9fxr_7z-k-unsplash-1097x1536.jpeg 1097w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/wesley-tingey-9z9fxr_7z-k-unsplash-1463x2048.jpeg 1463w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/wesley-tingey-9z9fxr_7z-k-unsplash-scaled.jpeg 1828w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 214px) 100vw, 214px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">\u201cThe conduct at issue in this case strikes at the very core of the civil rights guaranteed to every American citizen under federal law,\u201d stated U.S. Attorney Gregory J. Haanstad for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. \u201cI commend the courage of those targeted by Mr. McDonald for coming forward. The U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office remains committed to working with all of our federal, state, and local partners to hold individuals who violate the civil rights of others fully accountable under federal law.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">McDonald faces a maximum sentence of up to 11 years in prison. A sentencing date has been set for June 29. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The FBI Milwaukee Field Office and the West Allis Police Department investigate the case.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Assistant U.S. Attorneys Christopher Ladwig and Philip Kovoor for the Eastern District of Wisconsin and Trial Attorney Nikhil Ramnaney of the Civil Rights Division\u2019s Criminal Section are prosecuting the
