height=\"216\" \/>An Idaho man was sentenced today to five years in prison for his role in defrauding the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Post-9\/11 GI Bill education benefit program in the department\u2019s largest Post-9\/11 GI Bill fraud case, officials stated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">According to court documents, Michael Bostock, 54, of Nampa, was the founder and CEO of California Technical Academy (CTA). <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">This VA-approved school offered technical training programs at three locations near Los Angeles and San Diego. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-6172 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/FBI-Insider-Trading-300x228.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"228\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/FBI-Insider-Trading-300x228.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/FBI-Insider-Trading-45x35.jpg 45w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/FBI-Insider-Trading.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>From January 2012 through June 2022, Bostock and his co-conspirators made false and fraudulent representations to the VA regarding, among other things, veterans\u2019 enrollment in approved courses of study, class attendance, and grades. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Bostock and his co-conspirators also falsified course completion records to make it appear as if enrolled veterans completed their programs when they had not. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">To conceal their scheme, Bostock and his co-conspirators falsified veterans\u2019 contact information by substituting phone numbers that Bostock and his co-conspirators controlled to ensure that regulators could not contact the veterans. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1073 alignleft\" phone numbers to obtain information about the school, Bostock and his co-conspirators impersonated students.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">During the fraud scheme, the school received more than $32 million in tuition payments for approximately 1,793 veteran enrollees. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">During the same period, veterans enrolled in CTA\u2019s VA-approved courses received over $72 million in education-related government benefits. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Bostock\u2019s and his co-conspirators\u2019 scheme to defraud the VA resulted in a total loss of nearly $105 million in government funds.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Co-defendants Eric Bostock and Philip Abod are scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 19 for their roles in the scheme. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The VA Office of Inspector General investigated the case.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size:
