According to the Department of Justice, the trees came into contact with power lines and caused the 2020 blaze.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv3914461089MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The lawsuit, seeking more than $100 million in damages, alleges that the SCE and Utility Tree Service (UTS) were negligent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv3914461089MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"> According to authorities, this caused a fire that burned more than 114,000 acres, nearly 100,000 of which were in the Angeles National Forest.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"SoCal Edison Cooperating With Federal Investigators Into Potential Link To Bobcat Fire\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/dmv9VHZQADo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>(KCAL news story 2020<\/strong>)<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv3914461089MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The U.S. Forest Service sustained fire suppression costs in excess of $56 million.
