{"id":55573,"date":"2024-02-22T15:00:52","date_gmt":"2024-02-22T23:00:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=55573"},"modified":"2024-02-22T15:06:10","modified_gmt":"2024-02-22T23:06:10","slug":"fourteen-arrested-for-alleged-involvement-in-a-three-star-dog-fighting-event-in-georgia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=55573","title":{"rendered":"Fourteen Arrested For Alleged Involvement in a Three-State Dog Fighting Event in Georgia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-55575 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/download-97.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"223\" height=\"226\" \/>Fourteen men \u2013 residents of Georgia, Florida and Alabama \u2013 were charged for participating in a major dog fighting event that occurred in April 2022 in Donalsonville, Georgia, according to officials.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The U.S. District Court of Georgia unsealed the indictment with this week&#8217;s arrests. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The U.S. Department of Justice named the defendants involved:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Tamichael Elijah, 47, of Donalsonville, Georgia<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Marvin Pulley III, 52, of Donalsonville and Jakin, Georgia<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Brandon Baker, 41, of Panama City, Florida<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Christopher Travis Beaumont, 37, of Panama City, Florida<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Herman Buggs Jr., 56, of Donalsonville, Georgia<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Terrance Davis, 45, of Pansey, Alabama<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Timothy Freeman, 26, of Bainbridge, Georgia<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Terelle Ganzy, 34, of Panama City, Florida<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Gary Hopkins, 66, of Donalsonville, Georgia<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Cornelious Johnson, 39, of Panama City, Florida<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Rodrecus Kimble, 43, of Donalsonville, Georgia<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Donnametric Miller, 41, of Donalsonville, Georgia<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Willie Russell, 43, of Blakely, Georgia<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Fredricus White, 36, of Panama City, Florida.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-55576 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/download-98.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"251\" height=\"335\" \/>According to court documents filed in this case, the defendants all converged on a property in Donalsonville, Georgia, on April 24, 2022, where they held a large-scale dog fighting event.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"> The defendants and others brought 24 dogs to fight in a series of matches that weekend. Law enforcement personnel who disrupted the event found numerous dogs inside crates in cars on the property. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The participants used their cars to store dogs who had already fought and those whose turns had not yet come.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">As alleged in the indictment, Elijah resided on the property and acted as the host, having taken money from Pulley for hosting the dog fights. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Pulley was the primary organizer. He and Russell acted as referees for matches before law enforcement arrived. Beaumont, Davis, and Miller were witnessed fighting dogs at the event. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-6759 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Department-of-Justice-300x197.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"197\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Department-of-Justice-300x197.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Department-of-Justice-90x60.jpg 90w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Department-of-Justice.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Baker, Beaumont, Ganzy, Johnson, and White brought three dogs from Florida to fight. Buggs, Davis, Freeman, Hopkins, Pulley, and Kimble also brought dogs to the fight. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Under federal law, it is illegal not only to fight dogs in a venture that affects interstate commerce but also to possess, train, transport, deliver, sell, purchase, or receive dogs for fighting purposes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Miller is also charged with the unlawful possession of a firearm subsequent to a prior felony conviction.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Authorities rescued 27 dogs from the April 2022 dog fighting event and another 51 in conjunction with the arrests that occurred this week.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">If convicted, the defendants face a maximum penalty of five years and a $250,000 fine per count of animal fighting charges. Miller also faces a maximum penalty of 10 years and a $250,000 fine on the firearm charge.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"> All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Office of the Inspector General, detectives with the Seminole County, and the Georgia Sheriff\u2019s Office are investigating the case.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Senior Trial Attorney Ethan Eddy of ENRD\u2019s Environmental Crimes Section is prosecuting the case, with assistance from Criminal Chief Leah McEwen of the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office for the Middle District of Georgia.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fourteen men \u2013 residents of Georgia, Florida and Alabama \u2013 were charged for participating in a major dog fighting event that occurred in April 2022 in Donalsonville, Georgia, according to officials.
