They have been moving large amounts of cocaine from Colombia to Guatemala, storing it on their properties across the country. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The group then coordinates with the Sinaloa Cartel and others to smuggle the cocaine through Central America and Mexico, ultimately aiming for the United States, according to authorities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Lorenzana-Cordon was brought to the United States from Guatemala in December 2021. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">On May 2, 2023, she admitted to being part of a conspiracy to distribute over five kilograms of cocaine, knowing that it would illegally enter the United States.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mt-1 flex justify-start gap-3 empty:hidden\">\n<div class=\"text-gray-400 flex self-end lg:self-center items-center justify-center lg:justify-start mt-0 -ml-1 h-7 gap-[2px] visible\">\n<div class=\"flex\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">From 1996 to 2019, the organization transported and distributed multi-ton quantities of cocaine from Colombia to Central America and Mexico. The drugs were taken to the United States.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"flex\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Lorenzana-Cordon\u2019s siblings, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/leader-guatemalan-drug-trafficking-organization-sentenced-life-prison\">Eliu Elixander Lorenzana-Cordon<\/a>, 53, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/leader-guatemalan-drug-trafficking-organization-sentenced-life-prison-0\">Waldemar Lorenzana-Cordon<\/a>, 59, were convicted in March 2019 on international narcotics trafficking charges in Washington D.C. and sentenced to life in prison.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"pr-2 lg:pr-0\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Lorenzana-Cordon\u2019s father,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/leader-guatemalan-drug-trafficking-organization-sentenced-23-years-prison\">Waldemar Lorenzana-Lima<\/a><u>\u00a0Sr.<\/u>, who has since passed away, pleaded guilty in August 2014 to international narcotics trafficking charges in the District of Columbia and was sentenced to 23 years in prison.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">This investigation is part of \u201cOperation Slipknot,\u201d which is supported by the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF). The DEA\u2019s 959\/Bilateral Investigations Unit is investigating the case, with assistance from the DEA Guatemala City Country Office.
