{"id":5584,"date":"2014-08-15T17:38:15","date_gmt":"2014-08-16T00:38:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=5584"},"modified":"2014-08-15T17:38:15","modified_gmt":"2014-08-16T00:38:15","slug":"medicare-fraud-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=5584","title":{"rendered":"Former Owner of LA Medical Management Company Admits to Stealing Millions from Medicare"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/doctor-two-others-found-guilty-20-million-medicare-medi-cal-fraud\/ladyjustice20color-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-927\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-927\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/LadyJustice20Color-e1399837697722.jpg\" alt=\"LadyJustice20Color\" width=\"100\" height=\"96\" \/><\/a>WASHINGTON D.C.<\/strong> &#8211; The former owner of a Los Angeles medical clinic management company pleaded guilty Friday in connection with his role in a scheme to defraud Medicare out of millions of dollars, according to officials.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mihran \u201cMike\u201d Meguerian<\/strong>, 37, of Glendale, plead guilty \u00a0to one count of conspiracy to commit health care fraud.<\/p>\n<p>Meguerian is expected to be sentenced in November.<\/p>\n<p>According to court documents, this is what happened:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Meguerian owned Med Serve Management, a medical clinic management company located in Van Nuys. Meguerian admitted that from approximately July 2008 through February 2009, he engaged in a conspiracy to commit health care fraud, in part through the operation of Med Serve.<\/li>\n<li>Meguerian admitted that he oversaw medical clinics that wrote prescriptions for medically unnecessary power wheelchairs and other durable medical equipment.<\/li>\n<li>Meguerian and his co-conspirators then sold the prescriptions to durable medical equipment supply companies, knowing that the prescriptions were fraudulent. The durable medical equipment supply companies submitted the fraudulent prescriptions to Medicare in false and fraudulent claims.<\/li>\n<li>From about July 2008 through February 2009, \u00a0durable medical equipment supply companies submitted approximately $3,367,661 in fraudulent claims to Medicare using fraudulent prescriptions from Meguerian\u2019s clinics, and Medicare paid approximately $1,438,760 for those claims.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WASHINGTON D.C. &#8211; The former owner of a Los Angeles medical clinic management company pleaded guilty Friday in connection with his role in a scheme to defraud Medicare out of millions of&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":2058,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[16,3],"tags":[792,44],"class_list":["post-5584","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-home-main-slider","category-u-s-department-of-justice","tag-los-angeles-medical-clinic-management","tag-medicare-fraud"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.3 -
