Medicare. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv3063567239MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">Bank records show that Medicare paid Genex millions of dollars in reimbursements for blood testing. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv3063567239MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">The reimbursements were wired to bank accounts in the name of an individual identified in court documents as \u201cL.S.\u201d\u2014Muradyan\u2019s long-time friend to whom Muradyan had offered to pay $2,000 monthly to pretend to be Genex\u2019s owner.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv3063567239MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">Muradyan allegedly told L.S. he needed him to submit Medicare enrollment papers to Medicare on Genex\u2019s behalf because Medicare had banned Muradyan from submitting claims.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv3063567239MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-12931 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/fraud-medicare-card-cube-e1499997089362-300x278.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"278\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/fraud-medicare-card-cube-e1499997089362-300x278.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/fraud-medicare-card-cube-e1499997089362.jpg 417w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>L.S. and Muradyan allegedly opened bank accounts for Genex in L.S.\u2019s name, which Muradyan controlled.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv3063567239MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\"> L.S. neither owned nor operated Genex. He visited the company\u2019s Burbank office to collect his $2,000 monthly payment and sometimes signed documents at Muradyan\u2019s direction.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv3063567239MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">For the tax years of 2015 through 2020, Muradyan allegedly instructed L.S. to report Genex\u2019s financial activity on L.S.\u2019s personal income tax returns using documents that L.S. provided to his own tax preparer. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv3063567239MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5906 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/U.S.-Department-of-Justice.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"253\" height=\"253\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/U.S.-Department-of-Justice.jpg 200w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/U.S.-Department-of-Justice-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 253px) 100vw, 253px\" \/>The documents purportedly showed that Genex had minimal net profit or was operating at a loss, meaning the company had little or no income tax liability.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv3063567239MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">For the same period, Muradyan allegedly submitted income tax returns that reported none of Genex\u2019s financial activity as his own and that he averaged an income of $40,000 per year. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv3063567239MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">Muradyan allegedly personally received and used millions of dollars in Medicare reimbursements to support his expensive lifestyle.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv3063567239MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 According to court documents, Muradyan\u2019s unreported income for these tax years was approximately $16,231,046, resulting in a total federal income tax due and owing by him of approximately $5.7 million.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv3063567239MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 IRS Criminal Investigation, the FBI, and the United States Department of Health and Human Services \u2013 Office of Inspector General are investigating this matter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv3063567239MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Assistant United States Attorney Mark Aveis of the Major Frauds Section and Trial Attorney Mahana K.
