Litteral III used force or the threat of force to intimidate and interfere with the victim \u2013 a Palestinian American man and practicing Muslim identified in the indictment by the initials O.S. \u2013 because of O.S.\u2019s race, color, religion and\/or national origin, and because O.S. was enjoying the goods, services and facilities of a local restaurant. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The indictment also includes a weapons charge, alleging that the defendant brandished a firearm during the offense.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-22946 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Courtroom-300x169.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"367\" height=\"207\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Courtroom-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Courtroom.png 650w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 367px) 100vw, 367px\" \/>If convicted of the hate crime offense, Litteral faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"> If convicted of the firearms charge, Litteral faces up to seven years in prison, to run consecutively to any sentence imposed for the hate crime offense.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Litteral is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The FBI Louisville Field Office is investigating the case.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Assistant U.S. Attorney Zachary Dembo for the Eastern District of Kentucky and Trial Attorney Katherine G.
