Garland. \u201cPublic servants should never be targeted for doing their jobs. The Justice Department will not tolerate such conduct and will use every resource at our disposal to prevent these attacks and hold perpetrators accountable.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Irondale man charged with detonating explosive device outside AG\u2019s office\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/1v-s9wPQ5O0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">According to court documents, Calvert detonated an explosive device in the early morning hours of Feb. 24 outside the Alabama Attorney General\u2019s Office in downtown Montgomery. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Fortunately, no injuries were reported. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">During the plea hearing, Calvert admitted to manufacturing the device using items like nails and screws as shrapnel, along with accelerants, to cause the explosion. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Before planting the device, Calvert placed stickers on various state buildings, displaying different graphics and advocating for various political ideologies. Some stickers included the phrase \u201cSupport your local antifa.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">However, Calvert claims he has no affiliation with Antifa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Video released of person of interest in Alabama AG&#039;s office bomb investigation\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/44QfflJnw30?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>(News Report Earlier This Year)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">After placing the explosive device near the Attorney General\u2019s Office, Calvert lit the fuse and fled the scene. He was arrested on April 10.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Calvert&#8217;s sentencing hearing will be scheduled at a later date. He faces up to 20 years in prison.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The FBI, with assistance from the ATF, is investigating the case.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Assistant U.S. Attorneys Russell T. Duraski and Brett J.
