MS-13 also engaged in <strong data-start=\"817\" data-end=\"885\">public violence, territorial control, and electoral manipulation<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"890\" data-end=\"1193\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Beyond El Salvador, MS-13 expanded into <strong data-start=\"930\" data-end=\"940\">Mexico<\/strong> under Roman-Bardales\u2019 direction, forging <strong data-start=\"982\" data-end=\"1008\">alliances with cartels<\/strong> and engaging in <strong data-start=\"1025\" data-end=\"1089\">drug trafficking, extortion, kidnapping, and human smuggling<\/strong>. The gang also <strong data-start=\"1105\" data-end=\"1126\">murdered migrants<\/strong>, including suspected <strong data-start=\"1148\" data-end=\"1190\">18th Street gang members and defectors<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"1195\" data-end=\"1447\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">MS-13\u2019s <strong data-start=\"1203\" data-end=\"1217\">drug trade<\/strong> funded terrorist activities in El Salvador, using its U.S. network for financial support. Since <strong data-start=\"1314\" data-end=\"1322\">2009<\/strong>, the Eastern District of New York has prosecuted <strong data-start=\"1372\" data-end=\"1384\">hundreds<\/strong> of MS-13 members for more than <strong data-start=\"1416\" data-end=\"1430\">80 murders<\/strong> in the region.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"1449\" data-end=\"1745\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Roman-Bardales faces charges of <strong data-start=\"1481\" data-end=\"1578\">racketeering, narco-terrorism conspiracy, material support to terrorists, and alien smuggling<\/strong>. <strong data-start=\"1580\" data-end=\"1604\">Judge Joan M.
