Wu also ordered Ladell Tharpe, 39,\u00a0 to pay $2,674,600 in restitution. Tharpe pleaded guilty last September to one count of Hobbs Act robbery.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Multiple arrests made in Beverly Hills smash-and-grab robbery | ABC7\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/p7NtAT4DWyc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>(News Report Two Years Ago)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"624\" data-end=\"928\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">According to authorities, in March 2022, Tharpe and three accomplices\u2014Deshon Bell, 22, Jimmy Lee Vernon III, 33, and a juvenile\u2014used sledgehammers and crowbars to smash display cases inside a Beverly Hills jewelry store while customers and staff were present. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"624\" data-end=\"928\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">They made off with 19 bracelets, 20 watches, and other high-end items.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"930\" data-end=\"1077\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1611 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/FBI-Logo-300x209.jpg\" alt=\"La Cosa Nostra Convicted Felon Admits to Drug, Prostitution and Weapons Charges\" width=\"300\" height=\"209\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/FBI-Logo-300x209.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/FBI-Logo.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>One of the getaway cars had been reported stolen four days earlier and was abandoned at the scene. The crew fled in another vehicle driven by Bell.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"1079\" data-end=\"1201\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Two days after the heist, Tharpe posted a photo on Instagram showing large stacks of cash with the caption \u201cRobbery Gang.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"1203\" data-end=\"1247\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Tharpe has been in custody since March 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"1249\" data-end=\"1496\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Bell was sentenced in February to one year and one day in prison. Vernon, whose cell phone fell out during the robbery and was later recovered by investigators, was sentenced to 80 months. Both were also ordered to pay $2.67 million in restitution.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"1725\" data-end=\"1864\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The FBI and Beverly Hills Police Department investigated. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Kevin J. Butler and Kevin B.
