Tekippe faces up to 70 years behind bars, according to authorities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"802\" data-end=\"913\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The Justice Department\u2019s Fraud Section leads efforts to combat health care fraud through its <a href=\"http:\/\/www.justice.gov\/criminal-fraud\/health-care-fraud-unit.\">Health Care Fraud Strike Force Program.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"802\" data-end=\"913\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Officials stated that since 2007, the program\u2014now active in 27 districts\u2014has charged over 5,800 defendants linked to more than $30 billion in fraudulent claims.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"802\" data-end=\"913\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The Centers for Medicare &amp; Medicaid Services and HHS-OIG are also working to hold providers accountable.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A federal jury on Tuesday convicted Dr. Benjamin Tekippe, 40, a New Orleans chiropractor, for orchestrating multi-million dollar health care and unemployment fraud schemes, officials announced.
