{"id":58718,"date":"2025-04-08T21:25:49","date_gmt":"2025-04-09T04:25:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=58718"},"modified":"2025-04-08T21:27:01","modified_gmt":"2025-04-09T04:27:01","slug":"california-man-pleaded-guilty-today-to-attempting-to-kill-u-s-supreme-court-justice-brett-kavanaugh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=58718","title":{"rendered":"California Man pleaded guilty today to attempting to kill  U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 21px;\">Nicholas John Roske, 29, of Simi Valley, California, pleaded guilty Tuesday to attempting to kill a U.S. Supreme Court Justice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"70\" data-end=\"337\"><span style=\"font-size: 21px;\">As part of his guilty plea, Roske admitted that on June 7, 2022, he flew from Los Angeles to Dulles International Airport with a firearm and ammunition in his checked luggage, then took a taxi to Montgomery County, Maryland, intending to kill\u00a0 Supreme Court Justice<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"California man to plead guilty in plot to kill Supreme Court Justice Kavanaugh\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/58JLByJgdRQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"339\" data-end=\"736\"><span style=\"font-size: 21px;\">According to the criminal complaint, around 1:05 a.m. on June 8, two Deputy U.S. Marshals guarding the Justice\u2019s home saw Roske arrive by taxi, dressed in black and carrying a backpack and suitcase. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"339\" data-end=\"736\"><span style=\"font-size: 21px;\">As the marshals approached, Roske walked away and soon called 911, saying he had a gun, was experiencing homicidal and suicidal thoughts, and had traveled from California to kill a specific Justice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: center;\" title=\"\" data-start=\"738\" data-end=\"912\"><span style=\"font-size: 21px;\">Montgomery County police arrested Roske and searched his bags, finding a pistol, tactical gear, a knife, ammunition, pepper spray, zip ties, burglary tools, and other items.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"914\" data-end=\"1165\"><span style=\"font-size: 21px;\">At the police station, after being read his Miranda rights, Roske said he was angered by a leaked Supreme Court draft decision on abortion and the recent Uvalde school shooting. He admitted he intended to use the firearm and tools to kill the Justice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"1167\" data-end=\"1283\"><span style=\"font-size: 21px;\">Roske faces a maximum sentence of life in prison. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"1167\" data-end=\"1283\"><span style=\"font-size: 21px;\">U.S. District Judge Deborah L.
