sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 414px) 100vw, 414px\" \/>A federal grand jury indicted siblings Johnny Hurtado Olascoaga \u2014 also known as El Pez, Pescado, and Mojarra \u2014 and Jose Alfredo Hurtado Olascoaga \u2014 also known as El Fresa, El Feyo, and La Fruta \u2014 both of Guerrero, Mexico, and co-leaders of the La Nueva Familia Michoacana (LNFM) drug cartel, officials announced this week.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 21px;\">The defendants were charged with alleged conspiracy to manufacture and distribute heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl, according to authorities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 21px;\">The indictments were returned in September 2024 and recently unsealed. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 21px;\">Both Hurtado Olascoaga brothers are fugitives believed to be residing in Mexico.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Members of a Massive International Drug Trafficking and Money Laundering Ring Indicted in Atlanta\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/B5Q_VV3Boks?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 21px;\">In addition, the U.S. Department of the Treasury\u2019s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced new <a class=\"ext\" href=\"https:\/\/home.treasury.gov\/news\/press-releases\/sb0087\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-extlink=\"\">sanctions<\/a>\u00a0against Johnny and Jose Alfredo Hurtado Olascoaga and their siblings, LNFM members Ubaldo Hurtado Olascoaga and Adita Hurtado Olascoaga. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 21px;\">On Feb. 20, the U.S. Department of State also announced the designation of LNFM as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) and Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT). <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 21px;\">Additionally, the Department of State announced a\u00a0<a class=\"ext\" href=\"https:\/\/www.state.gov\/up-to-8-million-in-reward-offers-for-information-leading-to-arrests-and-or-convictions-of-leaders-of-foreign-terrorist-organization-lnfm-cartel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-extlink=\"\">Narcotics Rewards Program offer<\/a>\u00a0of up to $5 million and $3 million, respectively, for information leading to the arrests or convictions of Johnny and Jose Alfredo Hurtado Olascoaga.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 21px;\">Franco Tabares Martinez, 51, of Guerrero, Mexico, a high-ranking member of LNFM was charged by a federal grand jury seated in the Northern District of Georgia with conspiracy to possess methamphetamine with the intent to distribute and related substantive counts of drug trafficking. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 21px;\">The indictment against Franco Tabares Martinez was unsealed on July 7, 2023, after which OFAC sanctioned him. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 21px;\">On June 20, 2024, his brother Uriel Tabares-Martinez was also sanctioned by OFAC. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 21px;\">Another brother, Pablo Tabares Martinez, pleaded guilty on Jan. 13 to conspiracy to possess methamphetamine with intent to distribute. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 21px;\">Their sister, Guadalupe Tabares Martinez \u2014 also known as Yosel Medrano Hernandez and Lupe \u2014 of Mableton, Georgia, was charged with conspiracy to commit international money laundering, conspiracy to operate an unlicensed money services business, and related substantive counts. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 21px;\">The indictment was returned on April 8 and was recently
