Kronstadt sentenced the following members of the same family:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"yiv3719716929MsoListParagraphCxSpFirst\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Evelyn Taylor, 41, of South Los Angeles, was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"yiv3719716929MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Laron Taylor, 38, of California City, was sentenced to 54 months in federal prison<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"yiv3719716929MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Latrice Taylor, 42, of Buena Park, was sentenced to 27 months in federal prison<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"yiv3719716929MsoListParagraphCxSpLast\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Raschell Taylor, 35, of San Bernardino, was sentenced to 24 months in federal prison<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"yiv3719716929MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The defendants were ordered to pay $567,334 in restitution.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv3719716929MsoListParagraph\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">At the conclusion of a six-day trial in July 2024, a jury found each of the Taylors guilty of one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv3719716929MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-10866 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/US-Department-of-Labor-logo-300x295.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"295\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/US-Department-of-Labor-logo-300x295.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/US-Department-of-Labor-logo.jpg 325w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>From February 2013 to July 2016, the Taylor defendants, along with their co-conspirators, stole $1.1 million in unemployment insurance benefits from the California Employment Development Department (EDD). <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv3719716929MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The Taylors created and registered fake companies with EDD \u2013 typically using the names of clothes cleaning services \u2013 with no real business or real employees \u2013 and submitted fraudulent unemployment claims in their own and others\u2019 names, sometimes using stolen identities; and withdrew cash using different EDD-funded debit cards from numerous ATMS across the greater Los Angeles area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv3719716929MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">In total, the defendants fraudulently obtained approximately $1.1 million in unemployment insurance benefits.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv3719716929MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The United States Department of Labor Office of Inspector General and the California Employment Development Department Investigation Division investigated this matter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv3719716929MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The Taylors are the second set of defendants to be sentenced for participating in this fraud scheme. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv3719716929MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Catrina Gipson, 49, of Moreno Valley, in February 2023 was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-cdca\/pr\/moreno-valley-woman-sentenced-4-12-years-federal-prison-conspiracy-stole-over-11\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">sentenced to 54 months in prison<\/a>; and Vernisha Jolivet, 32, of Ripley, was sentenced in May 2022 to six months in federal prison.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv3719716929MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Assistant U.S. Attorney Solomon Kim of the Major Frauds Section prosecuted this case.<\/span><\/p>\n<p
