Jimenez, 54, of Rio Rico, found guilty of conspiring to allow five smuggling vehicles to pass through checkpoints, is facing up to 20 years in prison, federal officials stated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"370\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">He is scheduled to be sentenced July 9.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"370\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">After a 10-day trial with U.S. District Judge Rosemary Marquez, the jury found that Jimenez had committed honest services wire fraud.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"372\" data-end=\"490\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">\u201cMr. Jimenez betrayed his oath and endangered his community for personal gain,\u201d said U.S. Attorney Timothy Courchaine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"492\" data-end=\"809\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Evidence showed that between June and October 2024, while stationed at the I-19 checkpoint, Jimenez conspired with two individuals in Mexico to allow five smuggling vehicles\u2014known as \u201cloads\u201d\u2014to pass through his inspection lane without scrutiny. In return, he was promised half of the $40,000 the traffickers were paid, according to authorities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"811\" data-end=\"992\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The DHS Office of Inspector General, CBP\u2019s Office of Professional Responsibility, and the FBI led the investigation. <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TUCSON, ARIZONA Former Border Patrol Agent Jorge J.
