{"id":59528,"date":"2025-08-20T19:10:30","date_gmt":"2025-08-21T02:10:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=59528"},"modified":"2025-08-20T19:13:45","modified_gmt":"2025-08-21T02:13:45","slug":"navy-veteran-charged-in-9m-fraud-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=59528","title":{"rendered":"Navy Veteran Charged in $9 Million Fraud Scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"121\" data-end=\"321\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong data-start=\"121\" data-end=\"136\">LOS ANGELES<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"121\" data-end=\"321\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3305 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/U.S.-Navy-300x168.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/U.S.-Navy-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/U.S.-Navy.jpg 690w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Navy veteran <strong data-start=\"152\" data-end=\"200\">Cory Taylor Wright, 49, of Columbus, Georgia<\/strong>, has been charged with defrauding the Navy of more than <strong data-start=\"257\" data-end=\"271\">$9 million<\/strong> through a bid-rigging and false billing scheme.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"323\" data-end=\"1331\">\n<li data-start=\"323\" data-end=\"433\">\n<p data-start=\"325\" data-end=\"433\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Wright is charged with <strong data-start=\"348\" data-end=\"362\">wire fraud<\/strong> and has agreed to plead guilty, facing up to <strong data-start=\"408\" data-end=\"430\">20 years in prison<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"434\" data-end=\"574\">\n<p data-start=\"436\" data-end=\"574\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">From <strong data-start=\"441\" data-end=\"457\">2016 to 2022<\/strong>, Wright and a Navy insider (later retired) created <strong data-start=\"509\" data-end=\"536\">C&amp;C Power Solutions LLC<\/strong>, steering contracts to the company.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"575\" data-end=\"720\">\n<p data-start=\"577\" data-end=\"720\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The insider ensured CCP received Navy contracts in exchange for <strong data-start=\"641\" data-end=\"667\">kickbacks and benefits<\/strong>, including cash and payments to his sporting club.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"721\" data-end=\"911\">\n<p data-start=\"723\" data-end=\"745\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The scheme included:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"748\" data-end=\"911\">\n<li data-start=\"748\" data-end=\"786\">\n<p data-start=\"750\" data-end=\"786\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong data-start=\"750\" data-end=\"763\">Fake bids<\/strong> to secure contracts.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"789\" data-end=\"837\">\n<p data-start=\"791\" data-end=\"837\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong data-start=\"791\" data-end=\"809\">False invoices<\/strong> for work never performed.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"840\" data-end=\"911\">\n<p data-start=\"842\" data-end=\"911\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong data-start=\"842\" data-end=\"861\">Bogus documents<\/strong> to hide the insider\u2019s role and financial stake.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"912\" data-end=\"1045\">\n<p data-start=\"914\" data-end=\"1045\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">CCP won a lucrative <strong data-start=\"934\" data-end=\"965\">prime Navy contract in 2019<\/strong>, worth tens of millions, before the Navy terminated task orders in 2022\u20132023.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1046\" data-end=\"1091\">\n<p data-start=\"1048\" data-end=\"1091\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Total losses to the Navy: <strong data-start=\"1074\" data-end=\"1088\">$9,128,515<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1092\" data-end=\"1199\">\n<p data-start=\"1094\" data-end=\"1199\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Investigators: <strong data-start=\"1109\" data-end=\"1151\">Defense Criminal Investigative Service<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1156\" data-end=\"1196\">Naval Criminal Investigative Service<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1200\" data-end=\"1331\">\n<p data-start=\"1202\" data-end=\"1331\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Prosecutors: <strong data-start=\"1215\" data-end=\"1241\">AUSAs Ian V.
