Others include ringleader <strong data-start=\"683\" data-end=\"699\">Wenhui Huang<\/strong>, 40, of Chino Hills; <strong data-start=\"721\" data-end=\"734\">Yang Song<\/strong>, 38, of Corona; <strong data-start=\"751\" data-end=\"767\">Junwei Jiang<\/strong>, 38, of East Los Angeles; and <strong data-start=\"798\" data-end=\"814\">Zhengxuan Hu<\/strong>, 27, of Alhambra.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"836\" data-end=\"1245\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong data-start=\"836\" data-end=\"850\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3918 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Department-of-Justice-300x300.png\" alt=\"Two Men Arrested for Allegedly Operating One of the Largest Synthetic Drug Smuggling Rings\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Department-of-Justice-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Department-of-Justice-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Department-of-Justice.png 350w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>The Scheme<\/strong><\/span><br data-start=\"850\" data-end=\"853\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">From 2015 to 2024, officials stated that conspirators in China smuggled counterfeit iPhones, iPads, and other devices into the U.S. The fakes carried stolen serial and ID numbers from real Apple products still under warranty. <\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"836\" data-end=\"1245\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The defendants returned the counterfeits at Apple Stores across Southern California\u2014including Beverly Hills, Irvine, Pasadena, and South Coast Plaza\u2014falsely claiming they were defective.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1247\" data-end=\"1560\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Apple employees replaced or repaired them with genuine devices, which the conspirators then shipped back to China for resale at a profit. <\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1247\" data-end=\"1560\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The group attempted to return more than <strong data-start=\"1425\" data-end=\"1455\">27,600 counterfeit devices<\/strong>, costing Apple <strong data-start=\"1471\" data-end=\"1493\">over $16.2 million<\/strong>. Lin and Xing alone caused more than <strong data-start=\"1531\" data-end=\"1547\">$1.1 million<\/strong> in losses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1562\" data-end=\"1719\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong data-start=\"1562\" data-end=\"1576\">Next Steps<\/strong><\/span><br data-start=\"1576\" data-end=\"1579\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">U.S. District Judge Andr\u00e9 Birotte Jr. set sentencing for December 10. Lin faces up to 20 years in prison, while Xing faces up to 40 years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1721\" data-end=\"1877\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The investigation was led by Homeland
