\"tufted<\/a>Evidence presented at trial showed that former Sanger police officer J. DeShawn Torrence used his badge to kidnap and sexually assault multiple women, according to officials.<\/span><\/p>\n

Torrence was convicted in January 2025 and sentenced to five consecutive life terms.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe commend the courageous women who came forward, trusting law enforcement to ensure J.D. Torrence was held accountable for his crimes,\u201d said Special Agent in Charge Sid Patel of the FBI Sacramento Field Office. \u201cTheir bravery has prevented this predator from harming anyone else. The FBI recognizes the Fresno County Sheriff\u2019s Office for their unwavering partnership. Justice has been served, making our community safer.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Prosecutors proved Torrence abducted a 21-year-old mother walking to a store, drove her to a remote dead end in his patrol car, and assaulted her while taunting, \u201cno one is going to look for you.\u201d He raped a 67-year-old woman after entering her home during a DUI investigation, later stalking and assaulting her again.<\/span><\/p>\n

In another case, Torrence appeared at a woman\u2019s home after midnight in uniform, forced his way inside, and assaulted her against her kitchen counter. A fourth victim, a domestic violence survivor, testified that Torrence returned to her home repeatedly under the guise of follow-up investigations, coercing her to expose her body and later trapping her in her bedroom to assault her.<\/span><\/p>\n
