autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"94\" data-end=\"576\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">A federal jury found the Hawaii man guilty earlier this year of coercing and violently exploiting multiple women and girls in a commercial sex operation that spanned two years, according to evidence presented during a 12-day trial. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"94\" data-end=\"576\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3918 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Department-of-Justice-300x300.png\" alt=\"Two Men Arrested for Allegedly Operating One of the Largest Synthetic Drug Smuggling Rings\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Department-of-Justice-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Department-of-Justice-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Department-of-Justice.png 350w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Prosecutors said the man, identified as McCoy, targeted victims who were experiencing instability, poverty, or emotional vulnerability, then manipulated them with false promises of romance, financial stability, and a glamorous lifestyle.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"578\" data-end=\"944\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Prosecutors told jurors that McCoy cultivated trust by portraying himself as sympathetic and wealthy, encouraging victims to believe they were beginning a committed relationship. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"578\" data-end=\"944\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">In reality, they said, the promises served as a method of control, allowing him to identify and exploit his victims\u2019 insecurities while positioning himself as both protector and provider.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"946\" data-end=\"1406\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Once the victims were under his control, authorities said, McCoy demanded total obedience and imposed a series of rigid, demeaning rules. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"946\" data-end=\"1406\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Victims were required to report their earnings from sex work, share cellphone location data, and address him using names such as \u201cDaddy\u201d or \u201cZeus,\u201d according to testimony. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"946\" data-end=\"1406\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">When any rule was broken or he believed the victims had failed to deliver enough money, McCoy responded with escalating threats and physical assaults.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"1408\" data-end=\"1765\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Witnesses described brutal acts of violence, including beatings, stomping on victims\u2019 heads and limbs, and repeated burnings on one victim\u2019s arms. In one incident detailed in court, McCoy allegedly slammed a woman\u2019s head against a car door, carried her unconscious body across a hotel lobby, and took her into an elevator. Several victims were hospitalized.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"1767\" data-end=\"1975\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Prosecutors argued that fear was central to McCoy\u2019s control. He convinced the victims that he monitored their every move and that escape would lead to retaliation, ensuring constant compliance and dependence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"1977\" data-end=\"2239\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Despite forcing the victims to work at all hours \u2014 including when they were ill or deprived of food \u2014 McCoy kept all profits, spending the earnings on designer shoes, belts, clothing, and other luxury goods. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"1977\" data-end=\"2239\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The victims, prosecutors said, were left with nothing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"2241\" data-end=\"2355\"><span style=\"font-size:
