Ferguson, 34, a former Memphis Police Department Officer, was sentenced Monday to 38 years in prison for civil rights, firearms, kidnapping, and obstruction offenses in connection with the fatal shooting of a man identified by the initials Robert Howard, officials stated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Ex-Memphis Police officer sentenced to 38 years in prison for kidnapping, murder\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/2tqfDKxo-8I?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" title=\"\" data-start=\"76\" data-end=\"396\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Documents tied to the plea show that on Jan. 5, 2021, while on duty as a Memphis police officer, Ferguson kidnapped and fatally shot Howard, who was dating Ferguson&#8217;s ex-girlfriend. He then worked with co-defendant Joshua M. Rogers to hide the crime by dumping Howard\u2019s body in the Wolf River and later selling the vehicle used to transport the body to a scrap yard.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" title=\"\" data-start=\"398\" data-end=\"505\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Rogers pleaded guilty on May 8 to obstruction charges in the cover-up and is set for sentencing on Dec. 17.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Patric J.
