By multiple accounts, it had already cleared the usual editorial and legal checks\u2014then got yanked at the last minute by CBS News\u2019 new editor-in-chief, Bari Weiss, after demands for additional reporting and \u201cgovernment commentary.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/newshour\/nation\/cbs-editor-in-chief-bari-weiss-pulls-60-minutes-piece-on-trump-deportation-policy-hours-before-air?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PBS+2The Guardian+2<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>And now\u2014right on schedule\u2014Weiss is reportedly moving to \u201coverhaul\u201d CBS News standards and procedures. Translation:<\/strong> rewrite the rulebook so the next tough story can be softened, delayed, or killed with a straight face and a corporate memo. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2025\/12\/23\/bari-weiss-cbs-news-60-minutes?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Axios<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">If a network needs White House comfort before it can air hard reporting, that\u2019s not journalism. That\u2019s permission-based broadcasting\/journalism..<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">So if you want to respond in the only language executives reliably understand:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"richie-entities__ul__cd8b561b20db1df7\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>Boycott the product.<\/strong> Don\u2019t reward \u201cstate-adjacent\u201d pretend news with ratings.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>Boycott the advertisers.<\/strong> They\u2019re the fuel line.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>Hit the corporate pressure points<\/strong> if that\u2019s your lane\u2014<em>but don\u2019t confuse activism with investment advice.<\/em> (Make your own financial calls.)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">And for the law: the key Supreme Court case protecting <strong>nonviolent political boycotts<\/strong> is <strong>NAACP v. Claiborne Hardware Co. (1982)<\/strong>.
